Booster Club Minutes – August 16, 2011

©Meeting was called to order at 6:09 P.M.by Mary Gregory and was held at WillisHigh School. Executive Board Members present were Mary Gregory, Stacy Alexander, Michelle Standefer, Janice Kuhl & Michelle Davis, director Katie Cade & Mrs. Lebow.

©Report from our Soco Representative Present-Sydney Alexander, she discussed that the new Soco Teams met to discuss their upcoming activities. She also reported on camp and Meet the Kats.

©Treasurer Report was approved by Aileen Ripkowski.

©August Statements were passed out by Janice Kuhl to all parents that were present.

©What it means to be a Sweetheart and Booster Club Parent/ proper protocol.

       ~If you have concerns regarding your daughter or drill team please contact Mrs. Cade by email at cade@willisisd.org or phone call to 936-856-1325.

       ~If you have booster club questions/concerns contact an e-board member.

©Absences:  Doctor/Dentist appointments are not excused absences unless prior approval has been arranged with Mrs. Cade.  Sweethearts not only have to contact grade level office but contact Mrs. Cade at 856-1325 to report any absences.

©Sweetheart Directory:  Please advise Mrs. Davis of any changes during the year.  Please review email rules.

©Fundraisers Expectations:  Buyouts:  Annual Lump sum for 2011-2012 is $500. Ann Streater asked when was the deadline for buyout and she was informed it was September 15, 2011. Minimum requirements will vary for each fundraiser but average $150 to $200.  If minimum is not met or bought out the Sweetheart is put on a “non-performance status”.

©Upcoming Fundraisers:  

~Raffle:  Donated items are needed asap.  Winners are announced Homecoming Game. 

~Concessions:  Concession dates are October 13 and October 14.  The October 13 concession will be at the high school, please be there by 3:30and the October 14 concession will be on the visitor’s side at the stadium, please be there by 5:30.

~HolidayPies:  Pie fundraiser dates are October 24 through November 10 for Thanksgiving delivery and November 11 through December 9 for Christmas delivery.

~Stacy Alexander asked for service fundraiser ideas.

 ©Football Season/Sign Up Sheets:  Mary Gregory talked about signing up for:

~Hauling props:  Volunteers for hauling props is covered.

~Providing snacks & water:  Please do not bring snacks & water to the school.  Deliver them to the stand prior to the game starting.  Waters should be iced down in an ice chest.  Snacks cannot be chips, chocolate or cheesy.  Plan for 40. Mary suggested providing 2 waters for each Sweetheart during the extra hot weather.

~Volunteers for Spirit Table:  Parents are needed to run the Spirit Table during each half of every home game.  The Spirit table will close during Sweetheart performance.

©Pep Rallies:  Pep rallies are usually on Friday’s at 2:00 PM.  Parents are invited to attend.  Pep Rallies are NOT every Friday.

©Calendars:  Calendars will be sent home monthly with your daughters-Dates are subject to change.  Mrs. Cade will advise your daughter of any changes.

©Checklist:  A checklist will be sent home to tell each Sweetheart what they will need to wear and bring for each game.  Also, what time they will need to be at the school and what time they will be returning to the school.

NO PARENTS OR FRIENDS VISITING IN FOOTBALL STANDS!!!

Every effort is made to keep an updated calendar on the Willis Sweetheart website.  However, changes do occur and it is the responsibility of your SWEETHEART to make you aware of these changes.

Please keep in mind that in order to maintain a team with the reputation of the WHS Sweethearts it is vitally important that each member attends all practices faithfully and is prepared to give 110%.

 As she became a Sweetheart she became a part of a team and therefore has teammates depending on her.  This is a life lesson & responsibility and dedication.

 As her guardian please do your part to support her in her decision to become a WHS Sweetheart and get involved in the booster club that supports such an awesome team!!
